INVESTMENT INVITATION TO TURKISH BUSINESS PEOPLE FROM KOSOVO MINISTER

ATO PRESIDENT BARAN: "WE ARE READY TO INCREASE TRADE WITH KOSOVO TO BILLION DOLLARS".

23 June 2021- Ankara Chamber of Commerce (ATO) Chairman of the Board of Directors Gürsel Baran stated that Turkey and Kosovo have developed cooperation in many fields, especially in economy, commerce and education, on the historical and cultural ties, "Despite all the developments, the trade between Turkey and Kosovo has not reached the level we want," he said.

Fikrim Damka, Minister of Regional Development of Kosovo and Chairman of the Democratic Turkish Party, visited ATO President Baran. ATO President Baran stated that the Balkans, including Kosovo, has a special importance in terms of Turkey's economic and political policies, and said, "The independence and economic development of Kosovo, Turkey's path to Europe form the basis of peace and stability in the Balkans."

Pointing out that the trade between Kosovo and Turkey could not reach the desired level despite the geographical proximity, the density of the Turkish population and the intention to develop relations, Baran said, "Trade between our countries is still at the level of millions of dollars. It is not possible to be satisfied with this number. As the Ankara Chamber of Commerce, we are ready to do whatever we can to bring our trade to the billion dollar level as soon as possible."

WE NEED THE CONTINUED SUPPORT OF TURKEY

In her speech during the visit, Kosovo Regional Development Minister Damka said that they have been working to make the development of Kosovo fast and solid, and that they have always seen Turkey by their side in this process. KOSOVO CAN BE AN INVESTMENT BASE FOR TURKISH BUSINESS PEOPLE

Inviting business people from Ankara to invest in Kosovo, Damka explained that if investments are made in industrial zones and free zones, Kosovo can be considered as a base and exports can be made easily to European countries and the United States from there. Minister Damka stated that support, including the allocation of space, is provided to those who want to invest in Kosovo.

Noting that there are more than 30 thousand Turks living in Kosovo, Minister Damka stated that the Turkish-speaking population exceeds 300 thousand and that Turkish is used as the official language in some regions, including Prizen, and said, "Turkish investors will not have difficulties in language when they invest in our country. " said.

Stating that approximately 2,000 Kosovar students are studying at university in Turkey, Minister Damka stated that these students can also contribute to Turkish investors in their studies.

During the visit of Minister Damka, ATO President Baran was accompanied by Parliament Speaker Mustafa Deryal, ATO Board Members Ülkü Karakuş, Adem Ali Yılmaz, Nihat Uysallı, Süleyman Ekinci, Halil İlik, Nuh Acar and ATO Former Board Member Hıfzı Kuruşa.
